Death toll in Gaza Strip rises to 73,419 and injuries to 174,364 since start of aggression

Gaza, August 22, 2026 – Medical sources in the Gaza Strip announced today, Saturday, that the casualty toll from the Israeli occupation’s aggression on the Strip has risen to 73,419 martyrs and 174,364 injured since the start of the aggression on October 7, 2023.

They indicated that over the past 48 hours, hospitals in the Gaza Strip received 2 martyrs and 4 injuries.

The sources noted that the total number of martyrs since the ceasefire on October 11 of last year has risen to 1,285 martyrs and 4,252 injured, in addition to the retrieval of 813 bodies.

They highlighted that a number of victims remain under the rubble and on the roads, amid severe difficulties faced by ambulance and rescue crews in reaching and retrieving them.
