Medical sources explained that over the past 24 hours, hospitals in the Gaza Strip received 5 martyrs, including 4 new martyrs, and 22 injuries.
The sources pointed out that the total number of martyrs since the ceasefire on October 11 has risen to 1,522, and injuries to 5,421, while the total number of recovered bodies reached 839.
The sources added that a number of victims remain under the rubble and on the streets, as ambulance and rescue crews are unable to reach them.

Gaza, October 17, 2026 – The death toll of the war of annihilation waged by the Israeli occupation forces on the Gaza Strip has risen to 74,469 martyrs and 175,492 injuries since October 7, 2023.
Medical sources stated in their report on Saturday that hospitals in the Gaza Strip received 6 martyrs and 43 injuries over the past 24 hours.
They pointed out that the total number of martyrs since the ceasefire on October 11 of last year has risen to 1,511, and injuries to 5,375, while the total number of retrieved bodies reached 838. They explained that a number of victims remain under the rubble and on the roads, as ambulance and rescue crews are unable to reach them.
They noted that 67 martyrs were added to the cumulative death toll after completing their data and approval by the Committee for the Approval of Martyrs, since the last addition to the statistics on October 10, 2026.

21,000 Patients in Gaza in Need of Treatment Abroad
Gaza -October 7, 2026- The Ministry of Health in Gaza said around 21,000 patients urgently need medical evacuation and treatment abroad, amid the severe deterioration of the healthcare system and the closure of the Rafah crossing since May 2024.
The ministry said the patients include 5,600 children, 2,800 cancer and oncology patients, 194 life-threatening cases requiring urgent evacuation, and around 2,000 emergency cases.
It added that 2,027 patients have died while waiting for medical evacuation since the crossing was closed, while thousands remain in need of treatment outside Gaza.
The ministry said around 12,000 cancer patients were in Gaza before the war, including 600 children. Around 1,500 have died during the war, while approximately 2,800 cancer patients remain in need of medical evacuation.

Education Ministry: More than 20,000 Students and Education Workers Killed in Three Years
Ramallah - October 7, 2026- The Ministry of Education and Higher Education said more than 20,000 students, teachers and university staff have been killed since October 7, 2023.
According to a ministry report, more than 20,000 school and university students were killed, most of them in the Gaza Strip. The toll also includes 805 teachers and 246 university staff members in Gaza, in addition to seven teachers in the West Bank.
The ministry said tens of thousands of students and education workers were also injured, while hundreds of students, teachers and academics were detained in the West Bank.

28% of the Captive Movement's Martyrs Since 1967 Have Died Within the Last Three Years
Ramallah, 6-10-2026 – During a press conference and a support rally for prisoners held today, Tuesday, in the city of Al-Bireh, prisoners' institutions stated that 92 prisoners whose identities are known have died as martyrs within three years, while enforced disappearance hides the fate of dozens of martyred detainees from Gaza.
The institutions pointed out that approximately 28% of the total martyrs of the captive movement since 1967 have died during the past three years.
They further detailed that about 9,300 detainees are held in occupation prisons as of the beginning of this October. This includes:
- 118 prisoners serving life sentences.
- 91 female prisoners.
- 350 children.
- 3,101 administrative detainees.
- 1,419 detainees classified by the occupation as "unlawful combatants," including detainees from Syria and Lebanon.
The organizations confirmed that 26,000 arrest cases have been recorded in the West Bank, along with thousands in Gaza, since the beginning of the genocide. They added that 49% of the prisoners in the occupation's jails are held without "charges" or "trials." [1]
Since the beginning of the crime of genocide, the Israeli occupation has escalated its policy of arrest and persecution, turning it into a tool for collective revenge, subjugation, and the targeting of various segments of Palestinian society.
According to available data, more than 26,000 arrest cases were recorded in the West Bank, including occupied Jerusalem, while the number of arrests in the Gaza Strip is estimated in the thousands. Documenting these cases remains highly difficult due to ongoing military operations, information blackouts, and enforced disappearances.
The arrests have targeted women, children, the elderly, the sick, journalists, and human rights workers. The number of detained women has exceeded 800, while child arrest cases in the West Bank have surpassed 2,000 since the start of the genocide.
The impact of arrest extends beyond detention itself to include raids, searches, vandalism, threats, and mistreatment. It also carries psychological, social, and economic consequences for the detainees and their families. According to human rights organizations, this makes detention a continuous tool for pressure and collective subjugation.
Speakers called for intensifying international pressure on the occupation to halt and abolish the use of the death penalty, and to ensure that the military or civil judiciary is not used as a tool to impose this sentence on a discriminatory basis.
They also emphasized that protecting the lives of Palestinian prisoners and detainees is an international responsibility that must not be treated as an internal matter or left hostage to retaliatory policies.
